My name is Luiegi Magnaye, ACE, BCAK, certified and RMT student. I have carefully decided to become a personal trainer after having gone through injuries of my own. At this point after weeks of sulking, I decided to change my life. The transition to making healthier decisions was not easy; I struggled everyday. But I remembered the days I was injured and I pushed forward. Surrounding myself around experienced and disciplined others with the things I want to accomplish helped the most. Their influence and presence changed my habits and made my daily health decisions easier. This was my “Aha” moment.

Environment was one of the keys to success. I asked my coaches and mentors what certifications and education they went through to be just like them. Because being fit and healthy was like breathing to them. This was the climax to my story. I studied hard and kept surrounding myself with others that had what I wanted. I have reached my fitness goals and become healthier. Being so grateful to those who helped me made me realize it’s my turn to give back and help others. I wanted to spread the happiness and sense of accomplishment I felt.

Jumping to now, I have more than 4 years of experience in personal training: strength and conditioning, fat-loss, and injury rehab. I am currently studying as a registered massage therapist at Langara to further expand my wealth of knowledge.

I invite you to join me and collaborate together to achieve a plethora of fitness goals and turn your life around. Who knows. . . maybe you’ll help others as well.

Growing up in a sports-oriented family, sports has been a huge influence in my life. I trained rigorously in the specific sports I played (soccer and basketball) but also experienced minor injuries that prevented me from competing at the level I wanted to compete at. I am grateful, though, that I did not face many major injuries. However, I did witness a lot of my teammates and family members endure many injuries and complications that in some cases concluded their sports careers. This created a desire for me to learn more about the human body and understand why these injuries occur. I wanted to learn the different techniques for proper rehabilitation and training, and possibly even doing things that would prevent those injuries from occurring in the first place.

For the past four years, I attained a bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia in the Okanagan. After graduating, I wanted to share my passion with the general population in hopes that they too can learn more about how their injuries and how their body functions. I hope to bring new ideas and different training methods to help achieve both their fitness goals and optimal health goals.

Along with working at Legacies, I also work as a support worker and coach for a non-profit organization called Canucks Autism Network. During these programs, I share my knowledge of sports with the children hoping they gain an interest in being/becoming active.
